Associate mailbox or shared mailbox has been added to my outlook profile automatically and I’m unable to remove shared mailboxes/associated mailboxes from outlook 2010/2013/2016
Auto-mapping has been enabled while access provided for an Associate mailbox or Shared mailbox to the user.
In some cases Associate or Shared Mailbox may visible in outlook even after the access for a user has been revoked. Actually Exchange 2010 and later version have the default option called Auto-mapping. If you provide a mailbox permission to User2 for User1 in Exchange Console or Exchange ManagementShell then User 2 will automatically add to the AD Attribute named msExchDelegateListLink in User 1 and whenever you are configuring outlook profile for User 1 then User 2 mailbox will automatically add to that outlook profile.
To provide mailbox access without Auto-Mapping, please use the PS Cmdlet below:
Add-MailboxPermission ‘User 2’ -user ‘User 1’ –Accessrights ‘FullAccess’ –AutoMapping:$False
Incase you have already provided mailbox access with Auto-mapping then remove User 1 in the AD Attribute msExchDelegateListLink of User 2.
