In this article we are going to see how to move/migrate a mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. We can use either EMC or EMS. We can even use the ESM in 2003 server. But in this article we are going to move the mailbox using EMC.
As you see in the below image the mailbox which is belongs to Exchange 2003 will show as Legacy mailbox
Now let’s right click the respective mailbox and click the move mailbox option
Click on the browse option
Select the Exchange 2007 mailbox database
In the next page you will get the following option. If you are going to move the mailbox due to remove the logical corruption you can select the skip corrupted message and select 20 or above. So that the corrupted items will not be moved. Since I am using this server in the lab environment I am using default.
You can actually schedule the mailbox move. I am moving the immediately option to move it right away.
You will get the summary page. Make sure the information is correct and click on move.
After moving process is done you will get the successful page. Click on finish.
Now you can see the user mailbox type shows as user mailbox since it is belongs to Exchange 2007 Database.
Hopefully we have learned something new from this article.
