In this article we are going learn how to install Exchange 2003 server.
We need to install pre-requisites to install the Exchange 2003 server.
- ASP .Net
To install the Pre-Requisites please go to the Control Panel -> Add or Remove Program -> Windows Components
Click on the Application Server and click on details button
Check the option -> ASP .Net, IIS. Click on IIS and click details button
Now select NNTP, SMTP and WWW
Click ok and click next to install the components
Click finish to complete the installation. Now insert the Exchange 2003 CD.
Now we need to prepare the Schema and Active directory to install the Exchange.
To do that open the command prompt and navigate to the path of Exchange setup files. Navigate it to I386 folder and run setup.exe /forestprep to prepare schema
You will get this warning. Check the option don’t display this message again and click continue
After the wizard will pop and accept the license. Then you will see this wizard
Click next and if you want you change the account name here. I am using the default admin account.
Click next to proceed further
After completion of forest preparation, Open the command prompt and run setup.exe /domainprep to prepare the domain
And same license agreement pop up will appear and accept it. Now you will see this wizard. Click next.
Now you will get this warning. That is expected. Click ok to proceed further.
And click finish to complete the domain preparation.
Now run setup.exe in the command to open the installation wizard of Exchange and accept the license agreement. You will see the following wizard
Click next and select the new Exchange org option and click next
Type the org name here and click next
Accept the license and click next
Make sure the install option is selected and click next
The installation will begin now
And after few minutes the installation will complete
You can access the Exchange System Manager also known as ESM here
ESM will looks like this
Congratulations!! You have installed the Exchange 2003 successfully
